Douglas fir stems from the Pinaceae family is mainly found in France, Canada and North America. Its oil is extracted from the branches using steam distillation and has astringent, antiseptic and circulation-enhancing properties. It kills certain microbes and contributes to skin detoxification. It calms tussive irritation and is mycolytic while helping to soothe respiratory diseases.
In aromatherapy, it harmonizes, stimulates, vitalizes and promotes concentration. It prevents depression, lack of concentration and nervousness and is suitable as a meditation oil.
